It’s no secret that homeless animals go through a lot of struggles, but one particular animal named Billy seemed to have had an especially tough time. Despite his hardships, he refused to give up and fought to survive on his own. It was during one of his walks that a couple noticed him passing by their house.
Two individuals acted swiftly and urgently, reaching out for assistance in locating a slim and pale-colored canine that had gone missing in the nearby forest. Eventually, the dog’s tiny head emerged, and the search party was relieved to have found him. The dog, named Billy, was immediately taken to a veterinary clinic, as he was severely malnourished and dehydrated. Unfortunately, his physical state was so poor that he was practically only skin and bones.
Krista and Bill were spending some time at the vet’s office when Krista shared a heartwarming story in the video below. She spoke about how she instantly fell in love with Billy and how she would always cherish that feeling. The look in Billy’s eyes, the pain he endured, and his unwavering determination to keep fighting were just some of the things that made her adore him even more.
Billy had an insatiable appetite. He seemed to want to eat everything in sight. However, the medical staff was aware that he needed to eat slowly if he didn’t want to suffer from indigestion. The doctors and nurses were uncertain about his survival chances, but he had a large support group rooting for him.
However, the following day brought some improvement as Billy put up a strong fight and the IV fluids and nutrition helped him. He became more mobile and his exhaustion began to subside. Unfortunately, the mounting medical expenses were a cause of concern for the couple, and they felt overwhelmed by it all. As a result, the “Saving Billy” fundraiser was initiated, and the local community rallied behind it with enthusiasm and support. It was a heartening sight to see everyone coming together for a common cause.
After a quick recovery at the vet, Billy was ready to leave. Krista had already made up her mind that she wanted to take him in as her foster son, and even her husband Bill couldn’t change her decision. It’s worth noting that Krista and Billy formed an instant bond from the very beginning.
After leaving the vet’s office, Billy was quite pleased, but he knew that things were going to change once he got home. He required physical therapy and a specialized diet to get him back on track. Despite the challenge, Krista persevered and worked hard to ensure that Billy had everything he needed. Slowly but surely, Billy began to put on weight and adjust to his new surroundings. Additionally, he gained some new furry siblings, including a dog named Remington, whom he quickly befriended and became inseparable with.
Krista felt reassured when she saw Billy during the trip, as she already had a gut feeling that he belonged to them forever. Billy was now officially a “foster fail.”
