The Manul cat, also known as the Pallas’ cat, is a species of wild feline that can be found in Central Asia. They possess distinct features such as their wide ears, stubby legs, and round pupils that give them a rather amusing look. Their scientific name, Otocolobus, which means ‘ugly-eared,’ adds to their unappealing appearance. Despite their fluffy demeanor, they are comparable in size and weight to domestic cats. These cats prefer living in high elevations up to 15,000ft and excel in chilly environments. However, they are not particularly fast runners, so they frequently seek shelter in crevices beneath rocks to evade danger. While their expressive faces may make them seem like enjoyable pets, they are independent and untamed animals, and are primarily kept in professional zoos due to the high mortality rate they experience at lower altitudes.
