From Abandoned to Adorable: A Dog’s Journey From a Lifetime of Chains to Puppyhood

While driving by, a car came across Violet and several other dogs who were tethered with heavy metal chains that not only prevented them from moving around freely, but also caused them harm.

When Violet was found by the founder and director of NMDOG, Angela Stell, she was already two years old and had likely spent her entire life chained up. Alongside five other dogs, she had been discovered on a property in New Mexico where it is illegal to keep dogs restrained without human supervision.

The authorities sent the county sheriff’s department to the area to find the owners of the dogs, but it seemed like they had left them behind. NMDOG took in all the dogs, including Violet, and began the process of nursing them back to health.

According to Stell, Violet is still a bit nervous and surprised by her surroundings. Her behavior may have resulted in her being mistreated, but she is now receiving care and is recovering well emotionally. Once she fully recovers, she will be ready for adoption to a loving home.
